Pets for Seniors
Pets for Seniors is an organization that matches cats and dogs from shelters and foster pet groups with senior citizens who might need a little help with the responsibilities of pet ownership. We are a 501(c)3 organization registered with the IL State Attorney General's Office. If you are over the age of 60 and would consider adopting a dog or cat that is from a shelter, foster pet organization or breed rescue and considered a "hard-to-adopt" animal, we will: A "HARD-TO-ADOPT" animal is considered a small dog over age 7, a large dog over 3 years, an adult cat over age 3, an animal with physical handicaps such as having only 3 legs, an animal that has not been adopted during it's time at an animal control and is facing euthanasia, or an animal that has lived at a shelter for more than one year. We do not help with the adoptions of puppies or kittens. We reserve the right to refuse help with any adoptions that we don't approve of or feel are not compatible. Our membership is made up of adopting members, as well as supporting members who pay a yearly membership fee to receive our newsletter. We work with all existing shelters and organizations. From time to time we will foster animals rescued from euthanasia that we feel would make a great pet for a future adopter. We do not accept owner relinquished animals other than from our adopting members who can no longer care for their pet. | |||||||||
