Ruby is a Doberman Pinscher!
The Doberman Pinscher is a medium sized, muscular, powerful dog that's about 26" to 28" tall at the shoulders. It is an energetic, elegant, alert and proud dog that is a determined, loyal and fearless companion.
It is thought that the Doberman originated in Germany around 1900 as a guard dog and companion of a tax collector named Louis Dobermann of Apolda. He used Rottweilers, shorthaired Shepherds, German Pinschers and Tan Terriers for his breeding stock.
The smooth, short, close lying coat can be black, red, blue-black or fawn with sharply defined markings of rust on the muzzle, throat, chest and feet. There may be a white patch on the chest or markings below the tail.
These vigorous, energetic dogs are frequently seen in the obedience rings and are known by their owners to be affectionate and loyal.
