Labrador Retriever Mix

Lola is a Labrador Retriever Mix!

Studies have shown that mixed breed dogs tend to be average in size; but it's necessary to keep the size of the parents in mind when evaluating the eventual size of your puppy! "Mother Nature" tends to breed for sturdiness, intelligence, playfulness, the ability to co-exist with other pets and people and longevity, so we can expect Lola to be healthy and sturdy. Her short haired coat indicates that she won't need a great deal of grooming or special care; and her loving family intends for her to live indoors, so that shouldn't be any concern.

The young Labrador Retriever is an intelligent, high-energy dog that needs a lot of exercise or it will find "ways" to amuse itself. They need to be in a regular, ongoing training and exercise program or they will gain weight as they get older.

Today, Labs are involved in agility, obedience, confirmation, drug detection, hunting and guide dogs. Their easily maintained coats need only weekly brushing for maintenance. While they can live in a well-protected outdoors kennel, they are more likely to thrive and become an all-round companion if allowed to share the family home!

The "Canine Companion" has now been recognized by the American Kennel Club and is happily accepted into their Obedience and Agility sporting events. Their scores are judged beside other dogs of their same height and age class. This is a most welcome happening for millions of "lost" pets in our nation's shelters!

We are pleased to welcome Lola to our practice!
