Max is a Havanese!
The Havanese is a member of the Bichon family that originated in the Mediterranean during ancient times and was given as gifts to Cuban women to help with trading relationships. They were popular with the wealthy, but their numbers eventually declined until they were brought to the United States in the 1950’s. Most of our modern Havanese are descended from these dogs.
The 6 to 8 inch long double coat doesn’t shed, but the dead hairs cling to the outer coat and it needs brushing 2 to 4 times a week to prevent matting. The coat can be straight, curly or wavy. This is not a dog that’s suitable for outdoor living.
At around 10 pounds and under 11 inches tall, this little dog is happiest when it’s the center of attention. It’s short legs give it a lively, springy gait that accents its playful, curious nature. The Havanese loves everyone. Children or other pets! It’s eager to please and learn.
We are pleased to welcome Max to our practice!
