Pomeranian Mix

Wrigley is a Pomeranian Mix!

Studies have shown that mixed breed dogs tend to be average in size, with the typical mixed-breed dog weighing around 40-60 pounds at full growth. A lot depends on the size and structure of the ancestors of your particular dog. Mixes of small dogs should result in smaller dogs, and mixes of larger dogs should result in larger offspring. It should be remembered that all "full-bred" dogs were once mixes of other breeds. The Pomeranian is a small dog that generally weighs less than 7 pounds and stands under 11 inches tall, so Wrigley should be a very small dog.

The Pomeranian is the smallest member of the German Spitz family and a member of the AKC Toy group. They were likely bred down in size in Pomerania from the Deutscher Spitz. The originals weighed as much as 30 pounds and were white or grey. They didn’t gain in popularity until Queen Victoria brought a large Grey Pomeranian home from Italy. It was recognized by the AKC in 1900 and the emphasis has been on coat color and thickness.

The Pomeranian is a bold, self-confident, playful little dog. It’s attentive to its family, reserved toward strangers, curious and ready to play. The thick coat needs grooming 2 or more times a week, and this little dog must live indoors.

They shouldn’t weigh more than 7 pounds, (preferably less than 5 lb.) and stand under 11 inches tall.

We are pleased to welcome Wrigley to our practice!
