Westie Mix

This Puppy is a West Highland White Terrier Mix!

"Mother Nature" tends to breed for sturdiness, intelligence, playfulness, ability to co-exist with other pets and people and longevity, so we can expect this puppy to be healthy and sturdy. The typical mixed-breed dog weighs around 40-60 pounds at full growth. A lot depends on the size and structure of the ancestors of your particular dog. Mixes of small dogs should result in smaller dogs, and mixes of larger dogs should result in larger offspring. It should be remembered that all "full-bred" dogs were once mixes of other breeds.

The West Highland White Terrier originated in Scotland and shares its’ origins with Skye, Cairn and Scottish Terriers who were all bred to handle such vermin as fox and badgers. A man, named Col. E.D. Malcolm, isolated the short-legged, white strain around 1907 and it was recognized shortly thereafter.

The Westie is a happy, curious and busy little bundle of energy. At under 10”, it is one of the friendliest and most affectionate terriers – except toward small animals. It has an independent nature and can be vocal. Daily exercise and an indoor bed are needed to keep it happy.

The coat will need regular combing and a clipping every couple of months to look its’ best.

We are pleased to welcome this Puppy to our practice!
