Willow is a Chinese Crested!
The Chinese Crested is more of an ancient breed than we might imagine; originating in China in the 1200´s, it spread by way of Chinese sailors. (They took these little dogs along on ships to catch rats; apparently thinking that the lack of hair prevented fleas.)
This is a playful lapdog that’s good with strangers and other dogs. It’s a sensitive, devoted companion that will be happy and alert while playing indoor games with you. The hairless varieties will need a jacket or sweater whenever outside in cooler temperatures. The "powderpuff" coat will need daily brushing and the hairless will need regular applications of lotion and sun block.
This is a fine-boned, slender, elegant dog that stands under 13" and weighs less than 12 pounds.
Warning! This little dog is a gifted jumper and some do learn to climb – which is a problem! They can get themselves, and their delicate bone structure – into situations where they can get hurt! Their home needs to be "puppy proofed" with this in mind.
We are pleased to welcome Willow to our practice!
