Blackie Boy & Sugar Bear are Pomeranians!
The Pomeranian is the smallest member of the German Spitz family and a member of the AKC Toy group. They were likely bred down in size in Pomerania from the Deutscher Spitz. The originals weighed as much as 30 pounds and were white or grey. They didn’t gain in popularity until Queen Victoria brought a large Grey Pomeranian home from Italy. It was recognized by the AKC in 1900 and the emphasis has been on coat color and thickness.
The Pomeranian is a bold, self-confident, playful little dog. It’s attentive to its family, reserved toward strangers, curious and ready to play. The thick coat needs grooming 2 or more times a week, and this little dog must live indoors.
They shouldn’t weigh more than 7 pounds, (preferably less than 5 lb.) and stand under 11 inches tall.
We are pleased to welcome Blackie Boy & Sugar Bear to our practice!
