Little Missy is a Shih Tzu!
The Shih Tzu originated in China, during the Ming dynasty, where they were bred to be lapdogs for the royal family. They are sometimes called " Chrysanthemum dogs " dogs because of the way the fur on their heads lays like a Chrysanthemum flower. This vivacious little dog loves to play and romp; and it needs daily exercise.
This gentle lapdog generally weighs less than 15 pounds and stands less than 10 inches tall. The long coat needs daily brushing, and the puppies should be taught early to enjoy grooming.
The Shih Tzu was also known as "The Lion Dog", because of its association with Buddhism. It was a favorite house pet during the Ming Dynasty. Their upbeat attitude and love of playing has kept them popular today.
We are pleased to welcome Little Missy to our practice!
