Schnauzers

Baron and Elke are Schnauzers!

Schnauzers are members of the terrier group and were originally used as "ratters" on German farms. They are playful and curious, alert and spunky little dogs. These are clever, companionable, well-mannered housedogs that generally get along well with other dogs.

The Miniature Schnauzer is a breed that came from Germany in the latter half of the 1800's. They are sometimes referred to as Zwergschnauzer and are descended from Standard Schnauzers, Affenpinschers and poodles. The word schnauzer means "small beard".

The exercise needs of this energetic breed may be met with a daily walk or a game of "fetch" in the yard. The double coat has a close undercoat and a hard, wiry outer coat that will need brushing and monthly or bi-monthly trips to a groomer.

The AKC standard puts these inquisitive little dogs at under 14" and 15 pounds. The recognized colors are black and silver, salt and pepper, and black.

We are pleased to welcome Baron and Elke to our practice!
