Gus is an Airedale Terrier!
The Airedale Terrier is a very active breed that needs plenty of mental and physical exercise every day. They were originally used to hunt fox, badger and birds. They were prized in the Yorkshire area of England for their scenting and retrieving ability.
This is a versatile breed. It is lively and bold, playful and protective. Although very intelligent, it can be stubborn and determined to go its own way. The Airedale wants to be in charge of its domain and may challenge another dog that attempts to usurp its position.
The brown and black wirey coat will need twice weekly combing and scissoring to maintain its shape. The ears frequently need to be taped as puppies to encourage the adult shape. This is one of the tallest terriers at around 23 inches tall and 55 pounds.
We are pleased to welcome Gus to our practice!
