Puppy is a Bouvier des Flandres!

The word “bouvier” means cowherd in French, and the Bouvier came from the farmlands of southwest Flanders It may be descended from mastiff, sheepdogs and perhaps, spaniels. Because it was used as a working dog to drive cattle and guard the farm, the emphasis was more on ability than form when breeding.

This 65-90 lb loyal dog is steady, fearless and protective. It is confident, independent and willing to please its’ owner. Usually good with children, it may nip at their heels while “herding” them.

A Bouvier may stand 27 inches tall and will need a lot of exercise. It can live outdoors in moderate climates – although it would prefer to live indoors with the family. It needs a lot of daily interaction with its master. The coat will need brushing, combing and regular scissoring for maintenance.
