Missy is a Shih Tzu!

Shih Tzus originated in China, during the Ming dynasty, where they were bred to be lapdogs for the royal family. This vivacious little dog loves to play and romp; which is good, because it needs daily exercise.

The long coat needs daily brushing, and the puppies should be taught early to enjoy grooming.

The Shih Tzu is also known as "The Lion Dog", because of its association with Buddhism. It was a favorite housepet during the Ming Dynasty. Their upbeat attitude and love of playing has kept them popular today.

This gentle lapdog generally weighs less than 15 pounds and stands less than 10 inches tall.
