Dash is an Australian Shepherd!
The Aussie originated in Australia when a man named Hall bred smooth blue merle Highland collies to dingos in an attempt to improve on the usual herding breeds for the rough country that was the Australian outback. The result was the "Halls Heelers", which was later cross bred by others until they arrived with a dog with the herding instincts of a collie and kelpie, combined with the ruggedness and endurance of the dingo.
Aussies need daily mental stimulation and a lot of physical exercise. A leisurely walk around the block will not be enough for this 35 to 45 pound bundle of energy!
The Australian Shepherd is known as a loving, intelligent breed, with a lot of confidence and stamina. They are a medium sized dog; weighing around 45-60 pounds and standing 20-23 inches tall.
