Bruno is an English Bulldog!
The English Bulldog is a member of the Mastiff family! This breed started it's history as an English fighting dog that was known for it's ferocity in the ring. When bull and bear baiting were outlawed, the breed nearly became extinct. Admirers rescued the dog by carefully selecting for an amiable, docile nature. They were so successful that this is now England's national symbol! (Winston Churchill didn't hurt the breed either!)
This is a docile breed that cannot tolerate heat and humidity. Most can't swim and are unable to walk or jog far. While the coat care is minimal, care must be taken to keep the skin folds clean to prevent infection.
These affectionate dogs are usually less than 15" tall and shouldn't weigh more than 55 pounds.
