Chief is a Samoyed!
The original function of the Samoyed was to herd reindeer and guard them from predators. They are named after the Samoyed people who moved to Siberia from central Asia.
They are a gentle, playful dog that is calm indoors. It needs daily exercise to avoid becoming bored and digging. The thick coat needs brushing and combing 2-3 times a week.
