Tabby Cats

A Tabby cat is a mixed-breed cat. The term tabby refers to the stripes and swirling patterns of the coat. It's believed to be the original basic cat pattern. The coloration is found in many cat breeds.

Not all cats are aloof. Many have a high need for attention and cuddling. Cats can be excellent companions and can be encouraged to learn a few commands. We have a handout with some suggestions for teaching them called Cat Tricks.

The average healthy weight of a cat is about 8 to 11 pounds.

A tabby cat will be happy to share any home with you. Some have been known to travel with their owners in a camper during the summer.
