Miniature Dachshunds

The Miniature Dachshund is a member of the hound group. Hounds were originally bred for hunting, with the dachshund intended to flush rabbits from their burrows.

The Miniature Dachshund can be found with a smooth coat, a long-haired coat and a wirey, harsh-textured coat.

Dachshunds

The average height of a Miniature Dachshund is 5 to 9 inches. A healthy weight will be around 9 to 10 pounds.

The short-haired and the wire-haired dachshund need very little grooming, however, the long-haired dachshund will need grooming to prevent mats.

These small dogs are well suited to apartment and smaller home life.
